How to use this free keyword planner
- Type one seed keyword or phrase, such as hydraulic hose. You can also enter a page URL instead, or both, to get ideas based on that page's content.
- Choose a country or region (or Global for all locations) and the search language.
- Sort by relevance or by monthly searches and click Get keyword ideas.
- Click Export to Excel to download the ideas with one column per month for your own analysis.
What the columns mean
- Avg. monthly searches: the approximate number of searches per month, averaged over the last 12 months, for the selected locations and language on Google Search and its search partners.
- 12-month trend: monthly search counts for each of the months Google returns. The tallest bar is the peak month; hover a bar to see its exact value.
- Competition and competition index: how competitive ad placement is for the keyword in Google Ads (LOW, MEDIUM or HIGH, and a 0 to 100 index). This describes advertiser demand, not how hard it is to rank organically.
- Top of page bid (low / high): the lower and upper range of what advertisers have historically paid for an ad at the top of the results page, shown in US dollars.
Where the data comes from and its limits
Keyword ideas and metrics are requested from the Google Ads API (the keyword idea service behind Google Keyword Planner) each time you search. Nothing is estimated by XunL.
- The page shows up to 200 keyword ideas per search, and the Excel export contains up to 100 rows.
- Each search takes one seed phrase. Separate words are treated as one phrase, not as a list of keywords.
- Results depend on the availability and quota of the upstream service. An empty result does not prove there is no demand; try a broader phrase or another country.
- Very small volumes may be reported as zero or rounded.
FAQ
Is this keyword planner free? Do I need to sign up?
Yes, it is free. You do not need a XunL account or a Google Ads account to search or to export the results.
How is this different from Google Keyword Planner?
Google Keyword Planner runs inside a Google Ads account. This page asks the Google Ads API for keyword ideas and shows them without a sign-in. It does not include Google's forecasts, plans or keyword grouping. XunL is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google; Google and Google Ads are trademarks of Google LLC.
Why do the numbers differ from other SEO tools?
Many SEO tools estimate volume from their own panels or clickstream data. The numbers here come from Google Ads for the country and language you select, so they can differ from third-party estimates.
What does "Global (All Countries)" mean?
No location filter is sent, so the volumes cover all locations Google Ads reports for the chosen language.
Can I use a competitor's page as the seed?
Yes. Enter the page URL with or without a seed keyword and Google Ads returns ideas related to that page's content.
