How to use the SMD resistor code calculator
- Enter the code printed on the part, such as 103, 4R7, 1002 or 01C.
- The calculator recognises the code system and gives the value and typical tolerance.
- Or enter a value to see how it is marked in each system.
SMD resistor code chart
Three-digit codes: two significant digits and a power of ten. Four-digit codes: three digits and a power of ten. R marks the decimal point. EIA-96 codes look up the E96 value from two digits and multiply by the letter, and are common on 0603 and smaller 1% parts.

Frequently asked questions
What is a 103 SMD resistor?
Three-digit 103 = 10 × 10³ = 10,000 Ω, i.e. 10 kΩ. Likewise 472 = 4.7 kΩ and 101 = 100 Ω.
How do I read codes like 01C?
This is EIA-96: 01 maps to 100 in the E96 table and C means × 100, so 01C = 10 kΩ ± 1%.
What does 000 or 0 mean?
A 0 Ω resistor used as a jumper or optional link. It has a current rating and is not a fuse.
Are my inputs uploaded?
No. Everything is calculated locally in your browser and nothing is stored; a share link only carries the values you entered.
Results are for design estimates and part selection; for production and safety-related circuits follow component datasheets, applicable standards and measurements.
