How to run a useful trademark search

      1. Search the exact name first, then sound-alike and look-alike variants (listed for you); examiners look at likelihood of confusion, not only identical marks.
      2. Focus on the same or related classes: the same name registered for clothing in class 25 usually does not block lighting in class 11, except for famous brands.
      3. Search each target market: trademarks are territorial, so a Chinese registration gives no rights in the US or Europe.
      4. Also search Amazon, Google and social media for existing use: in the US and elsewhere, unregistered prior use can still block you.
      5. For an important brand, have a trademark attorney run a professional search and risk opinion before filing.

      What Amazon Brand Registry needs

Amazon Brand Registry requires a registered or pending word or design mark in a supported country or region (such as the US, UK, EU or Japan), matching the brand on your products and packaging. A pending application number is enough to start, so file in your target market early.

      Frequently asked questions

If no identical mark turns up, am I safe to use the name?

No. This tool takes the name and its variants to each official database and flags descriptive and geographic risks, but it does not replace examination. Similar marks, unregistered prior use and famous brands can all lead to refusal or disputes, so have an attorney search important brands.

Why are results not shown on this page?

Trademark offices require searches in their own systems and restrict automated scraping. To keep results accurate and compliant, we copy the name and open the official search page so you see the office's current results.

How many classes should I file in?

File for what you sell now and plan to sell soon; each class is charged separately. Fans usually go in class 7 (industrial blowers) or 11 (domestic fans, ventilation); apps in classes 9 and 42; retail services can add class 35.

Trademark search helper practical guide and common questions

What does a Trademark search helper do?

Covers USPTO, EUIPO, UKIPO, WIPO's Global Brand Database, China's CNIPA, Japan, Canada and Australia; generates spelling and sound-alike variants and flags laudatory words, place names and generic names, the usual grounds for refusal.

Who is this for, and when is it useful?

Sellers and brand owners going overseas, applying for Amazon Brand Registry or naming a new product who must check whether the name is taken in the US, EU, UK, China and other markets.

How do I use this Trademark search helper?

Enter the brand name and what you sell, open each official database and paste the name, search the similar spellings too, and review the warnings and suggested classes.

How should I interpret the results?

It does not scrape trademark offices, so results come from each official system; similarity and prior use still need a professional search.

Where is the work performed, and which services receive data?

The brand name and goods stay in your browser; clicking a button copies the name and opens the official search, and nothing is stored here.
