Formula and method
Worked example
100 psi × 0.068947573 = 6.894757 bar.
Assumptions and limits

Frequently asked questions
How many bar are in 1 psi?
1 psi = 0.068947573 bar. The factor follows from the SI definitions: 1 psi = 1 lbf/in² = 4.4482216152605 N ÷ (0.0254 m)²; 1 bar = 100,000 Pa.
How do I convert bar back to psi?
Multiply by 14.503773773 (or divide by 0.068947573), or simply switch “From unit” to bar. For example 10 bar = 145.037738 psi.
What is the difference between psi, psig and psia?
psig is gauge pressure (relative to local atmosphere) and psia is absolute; psia ≈ psig + 14.696. This converter only changes units and never adds atmospheric pressure, so a gauge value in gives bar(g) out and an absolute value gives bar(a).
